Francesca's Collections

I have exactly eight minutes before my community center computer lab session runs out. There's a couch of coughers waiting in line to use this computer, so I'll start at the place that comes to mind first: my job. Isn't it funny how work is my inspiration, considering I was jobless for almost 10 months? I'd explain, but that's for another day and another post. Seven minutes.

I'm a Keyholder at Francesca's Collections, a little boutique rapidly growing in popularity all over the country. I'd never heard of a Keyholder before I got hired for the position, but I didn't mention this to my employer. Seeing as I applied for the position of Boutique Associate, and considering my manager's willingness to train me in a position higher than one I was familiar with, I saw no harm in staying silent about my ignorance.

Being a Keyholder entails exactly its title. I carry a set of keys to the store because I'm responsible for opening and closing. Since we're a staff of six, including another Keyholder, my manager, and my assistant manager--all of whom have keys to the store--I don't have to close the store on my own most days, or even frequently. In fact, I've been working a month and only recently closed the store on my own for the first time. Talk about an ego-booster, right? Actually, it was more of an ego-buster because the register was short some dollars, I forgot the alarm code, and I kept my poor associate waiting an extra fifteen minutes after close because I forgot how to close.

One minute left, and someone has already tapped my shoulder to inquire as to whether I'll be finished by the time she comes out of the public restroom. Did I mention that I don't have my own Internet? That's another post for the jobless category. I suppose this wasn't a jaw-dropping welcome into my world of wonder, but at least the hour of primping I spent on my blog didn't go to waste. Looks rather dashing, if I do say so myself.

Five seconds to say goodbye. I'll start with hello.
